English Description
The Church of Santa Maria in Porto Lungo dates back to the 14th century and, built on an ancient pagan temple, is in Romanesque style. Its façade has a horizontal crowning with a triangular brick structure in the center supporting the cross.
The wooden portal, squared and austere, is divided into 48 squares and is surmounted by a small newsstand, now empty, which in the past housed a small statue of the Madonna. At the top an "eye" gives light to the interior and refines the facade. A bell gable, also in brick, rises from the rear of the roof and houses two bells.
The interior has a single nave without apse with a round triumphal arch and offers the faithful late medieval frescoes and a beautiful wooden altar in the Baroque style from 1646 decorated with gold friezes.

Descrizione
La Chiesa di Santa Maria a Porto Lungo risale al XIV secolo e, edificata su un antico tempio pagano, è di stile romanico. La sua facciata è a coronamento orizzontale con al centro una struttura triangolare in mattoni a sostegno della croce.
Il portale in legno, squadrato ed austero, è suddiviso in 48 riquadri ed è sormontato da una piccola edicola oggi vuota, che nel passato ha custodito una piccola statua della Madonna. In alto un “occhio” dà luce all’interno ed ingentilisce la facciata. Un campanile a vela, anch’esso in mattoni, si erge dalla parte posteriore della copertura ed ospita due campane.
L’interno è a navata unica priva di abside con arco trionfale a tutto sesto ed offre ai fedeli affreschi tardo-medievali e un bellissimo altare ligneo di stile barocco del 1646 decorato con fregi in oro.
