English Description
The church, dedicated to SS. Apostles Peter and Andrew, stands in the center of the village of Castelbasso; formerly known as Castrum Vetus Monaciscum (Castel Vecchio Monacesco) as it pertains to the nearby abbey of San Clemente al Vomano. The one existing today in Castelbasso is the third church, in order of time, built on the same site. The former is mentioned in the deeds of donation made in 1046 and 1047 by the Lombard brothers Adelberto and Raimondo and reported in the Chronicon Casauriense, while the portal from 1338 and the right side of the facade remain of the latter.

La chiesa, dedicata ai SS. Apostoli Pietro e Andrea, sorge al centro del borgo di Castelbasso; anticamente conosciuto come Castrum Vetus Monaciscum (Castel Vecchio Monacesco) in quanto pertinenza della vicina abbazia di San Clemente al Vomano. Quella oggi esistente a Castelbasso è la terza chiesa, in ordine di tempo, costruita nello stesso sito. La prima è menzionata negli atti di donazione fatti nel 1046 e 1047 dai fratelli longobardi Adelberto e Raimondo e riportati nel Chronicon Casauriense, mentre della seconda rimangono il portale del 1338 e la parte destra della facciata.
