English Description
Inaugurated in the year 2000, the Museum has four rooms with a collection consisting of 54 pieces reconstructed on historical bases (iconographic for medieval ones or copied from originals for Renaissance ones) and relating to periods ranging from the 8th century A.D. to the end of the 16th century.
The exhibits are classified into stringed instruments (the monochord invented, according to legend, by Protagoras is very old), percussion, wind and reed instruments. Particular among the latter are the Cornetto and the Ciaramelle, a kind of folk Oboe played together with the Zampogna.
The museum has a multimedia installation that allows visitors to listen to the instruments and watch videos reproducing the different stages of their construction.

Descrizione
Inaugurato nel 2000, il Museo dispone di quattro sale con una collezione formata da 54 pezzi ricostruiti su basi storiche (iconografiche per quelli medievali o copiati da originali per quelli rinascimentali) e relativi ad epoche che vanno dal VIII secolo d. C. alla fine del XVI secolo.
Le opere esposte sono classificate in strumenti a corde (antichissimo il monocordo inventato, secondo la leggenda, da Protagora), a percussione, a fiato e ad ancia. Particolare, tra questi ultimi, il Cornetto e le Ciaramelle, sorta di Oboe popolare suonato assieme alla Zampogna.
Il museo è dotato di un'installazione multimediale che permette di ascoltare gli strumenti e di guardare video che riproducono le diverse fasi di costruzione degli stessi.
